Frequently Asked Questions About Family Involvement

When your loved one first arrives at Royal Life Centers, communication is limited. During detox, guests are on a “black-out” period, meaning they take a break from all electronic devices. We minimize contact with external sources during our inpatient programs to ensure guests can focus entirely on their treatment. During residential treatment, guests can speak with family and friends during individual therapy sessions with their primary therapist, which provides an opportunity for family therapy.

Relapse is a common part of the recovery process, but it does not mean that all progress has been lost. It is important to remember that addiction is a chronic disease and relapse may occur. Continuing to support your loved one and encouraging them to seek help again can make all the difference in their recovery journey.

Taking care of yourself is crucial during your loved one’s recovery journey. Remember, you can’t control their actions, but you can control how you care for yourself. This might include seeking therapy or support groups, setting boundaries, and finding healthy ways to cope with stress. It’s also helpful to educate yourself on addiction and recovery. This will help you understand what your loved one is going through and give you the tools to better support them.
